News :. Rampaging dogs kill Concord family's pets
[03.12.2005]

CONCORD - Two dogs that may have been pit bulls attacked and killed at least two cats, a goat and a pet rabbit on Claycord Avenue early Friday.

Homeowner Maureen Hotton said she was woken up about 1:30 a.m. by loud barking sounds in her backyard. She called 911 and talked to the police, who referred her to animal control officials.

Hotton said animal control told her not to go outside because it was dangerous, and that they had received other calls from nearby residents about the dogs attacking their pets.

Animal control officers arrived on the scene and caught the two dogs about 25 minutes after her call, Hotton said.

An animal control employee would not comment on the case Friday and said it is still under investigation. The spokesperson could not confirm that the dogs involved were pit bulls, or if other animals had been attacked.

Hotton said that she and her husband witnessed one dog in the goat pen and both dogs go after one of their daughters' two pet rabbits.

"It was very traumatic for our children, seeing their family pets being killed," Hotton said
